“Do not fear, Only Believe” A response to tragedy and loss. (Mark 5:21-43)

Tim Cain, November 18, 2017
Part of the Mark series, preached at a Saturday Evening service

Few things in all of the world can compare to the suffering that a parent experiences when they lose a child. In Mark 5:21-43 we encounter a man whose 12 year old daughter was about to die. In desperation this man ran to Jesus but found that despite all of his efforts his worst nightmare came true. But as he stood there in shock after losing his only daughter Jesus said to him “Do not fear, only believe.” Tonight, Jesus call continues to ring out to all of those who find themselves overwhelmed with the brokenness of this world. “Do not fear, only believe.” In this story we will see how Jesus is able to offer us comfort in the midst of our worst nightmares and why it is that he is worthy of our trust.
